Sintagg -Sintered Lightweight Aggregates

Sintagg is made from the sintering process of fly ash .  Sintagg is formed into small round pellets, which are then processed to creates a very hard aggregates  with a honeycombed internal spongy structure . These hard pellets can then be used as a superior, consistent, lightweight aggregate which is up to 50% lighter than natural aggregate.

Applications where lightweight aggregates are used include:

v  Lightweight concrete masonry

v  Structural lightweight and semi-lightweight cast-in-place concrete

v  Low-density precast concrete units

v  Low-density mortars for radiant heat floor and refractories

v  Geotechnical low-density engineered fill

v  Insulating concrete fill

v  Concrete roofing tile and ballast

v Groundcover and soil-less mixes

StructuralLightweight Concrete:-Lighterin weight than standard concrete, but just as strong,  Sintagg offers significant deadload savings.This allows for long cantilevers, slimmer general sections and reducedfoundations sizes, enabling designers to produce structures that would be verydifficult to build in other materials.

Floor and Roof Screeds:-  Sintagg screeds are easily placed in depths from 30mm to over 450mm. They provide an excellent method of making up levels and offer thermal and sound insulation, which is especially useful on refurbishment projects. Only half the amount of cement is used than with a sand/cement screed, bringing time and cost savings.  Density is also approximately half that of sand/cement screeds, again reducing costs.

Roof tiles:-Specially crushed and blended grades of  Sintagg allow roof tile manufacturers to maximize strength and density, producing lighter units to reduce costs and dead load.

Land Drainage:- Allowing six times more water through its void space than gravel,  Sintagg is an excellent material for drainage, either in slit trenching or in bulk.

Engineering Lightweight fill:-  Sintagg can be used bonded (with cement) or unbounded (loose) for maximum flexibility. It’s free draining properties allow significant reductions in hydrostatic pressure. SINTAGG is low density and requires only limited compaction.

Precast Concrete :-  Sintagg is not strong but light concrete offers 25% weight savings over normal concrete, ideal for cladding panels, floor decking, lintels, staircases and other structural units.

Horticultural & Landscaping applications - SINTAGG offers a sterile . inorganic medium that is helpful as a growing medium for plants .The moisture retention, up to 15%, of SINTAGG provides a controlled water  release to the plants. In addition, seedlings are not bound into the growing  medium but grow between the aggregate particles. This allows for easier transplanting with minimal root damage.

     Drainage media – For smaller drainage applications SINTAGG should be used. The particle size and shape of SINTAGG particles give them excellent hydraulic  conductivity properties. It can be shown that up to six times more water will  pass through SINTAGG than standard gravel aggregates, reducing the risk of silt blockages in trench systems. Finely graded lightweight aggregate can be used  allowing grass to grow and ‘knit’ over the trench in a few days.

Green roofing - SINTAGG horticultural medium has been used successfully for many years as a drainage medium for sports pitches, golf courses and back fill  applications, by providing a lightweight fill medium that is free draining while retaining a high volume of moisture to slowly release back into the environment      once drier conditions prevail. As such, SINTAGG horticultural medium should be considered for use as a  component in green roofing systems.

       Filter Media:- SINTAGG is an ideal material for use in biological filter systems where a bacterial film          hasto  anchor and develop.
